Halloween DIY Wreath
So I have a week off from school before I have to go back for Fall semester. I decided to start on my Halloween decorations since I know I won't have time to be creative while I'm in school. I took advantage of my mini vacation and attempted my first Halloween wreath. I'm not too sure how I feel about it. I'm sure practice makes perfect but deco mesh is hard to handle!! Geeze! Maybe I'm just a newbie still but hopefully my next one is better. I think it looks good from afar but to me it doesn't look right. Maybe I'm being too critical because my hunny says it looks awesome! ( he's my number one fan :) lol ) but none the less here it is. It's actually fairly easy to make and only took me about 10-15 min. I know it's barely August but I couldn't help myself, every craft store already has its Christmas decorations up!! I had to get started!

Jack of all trades, Master of ONE
So I was looking back at when I started my blog and some things have changed. I decided I needed to update! Well back in November of last year I was contemplating going back to school for my Masters. Well, currently I am about to finish my first Semester in the MBA program at University of La Verne! Actually, I just took my accounting final tonight and tomorrow I have a marketing final! I should be studying but I get distracted easily :) Shocking! hehe anyway, I love being back at school and it works for us because my hubby works during the day, and is able to take care of our daughter in the evenings when I go to school. I am taking two courses per semester, (its a big workload! Much more than the undergraduate program, so I want to pace myself.) I hope I did well on my accounting final! I hate accounting by the way. Praying for a B or better! I'm being optimistic!
So any who, my daughter is now 17 months! WOW how the time flies. Everyday I look at her and she is getting so big its amazing! Her little personality is really starting to show! I love it!! On Wednesday I'm going shopping with my mom because we are going to get started on her Halloween costume. I'm so excited! If it turns out the way I plan its going to be awesome! I can't wait!
Well, its getting late and I need to sleep and study all day tomorrow since I've procrastinated on studying this whole night. Oh well I'm confident I'll do well. I graduated with my BA in Communications which means one thing: I am the Jack of all Trades, Master of One - Marketing. :) It comes very easy to me. Its a simple concept yet effective. But I wont go in to that tonight, I'm sleepy.
Goodnight !

Truly authentic Mexican salsa!
I made my moms simple yet tasty spicy Mexican salsa the other day and it tasted exactly like hers always does! (That's what I was going for). It's quick and easy to make and you can put it on soups, Carne Asada tacos, chicken tacos, rice, beans, ANYTHING! My favorite is on a plain corn tortilla, maybe add a little lemon and salt to it and whala! Perfection! (I'm so Mexican I know but I swear its the best way to eat it). Un taco de chile. Translation: a chile taco. Yum. It's super easy to make.. Just little cherry tomatoes, roasted in a comal (I used 4, only because I'm the only one in my home to eat chile, otherwise you could add more), 2 garden chiles, also roasted (don't know the name but I could post a pic) salt to taste, and a molcajete to grind it all up in. Super easy!

DIY Ornament Wreath
Red and Gold DIY wreath
So this year I decided to make my own Christmas wreath. Last year I spent about $20 dollars at Wal-Mart for one that wasn't even that pretty anyways. I know this type of wreath has been made many times and is all around Pinterest, (thats where I got my inspiration). I kind of thought it would be easy to make and it really was!
All I bought were the ornaments from The Dollar Tree, about $6 dollars, and the bow from target about $4 dollars. So all in all I spent $10 dollars for a really nice ornament. I've gotten so many compliments on it. So all I used was a wire hanger, some hot glue, a bow, and my ornaments to make the wreath. Super Easy!
OH Christmas Tree, OH Christmas Tree
This year we found our perfect tree at our local Home Depot. It was about 8 feet tall and smelled amazing. This tree will fulfill its Christmas Destiny. (FRIENDS reference) I love FRIENDS.
I LOVE our new camera. We took this picture with all the lights off. Only the christmas tree lights were on and it gave off this cool effect. I learned how to do it from a pinner on Pinterest. Change the settings on your camera to (f) aperture 3.0 or lower. Shutter speed 1/30 and ISO: 1600. It was easy getting her to pose in front of the tree. This is her first Christmas and we are capturing every experience possible on film.
She could play with these lights FOREVER. We didn't mind. We just clicked away. Beautiful.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Easy DIY Fall Wreath
EASY DIY Fall Wreath
I made this wreath in about 10 minutes the other day and it was the easiest thing I've ever made. I wanted to make a Fall wreath that wasn't too Christmassy since its still November. (I don't like to skip Holidays) I'm kind of iffy about this one only because I feel that it blends in too much with my door. I think this wreath would look great against a black or red door. Someone suggested adding red poinsettias to it which I think would look great, but I was trying to steer as far away from the whole Christmas theme as I can.
Below is a step-by-step on how to create this simple-yet elegant wreath :) Enjoy!
Step 1: Gather your materials. I used a circle foam thing I found at Michaels for 4.99, a pack of flowers of any kind. If I was doing this for the Holidays, I would have chosen red ones, and ribbon. Since I made this with Thanksgiving in mind, I chose Autumn type colors. You really can chose any variation that you want...thats the awesome part!
Step 2: Start wrapping the ribbon and secure every so often with a glue gun. (I forgot to mention that as an item needed! Glue gun=Key! Wrap all the way around.
Step 3: Once finished it should look like a giant ring. To me it looks like the rings from the old video game Sonic The Hedge Hog. I'm I the only weirdo who sees that? Maybe so, but I grew up with brothers. I know video games, so what....
Step 4: Hot glue the flowers in any section. I glued them where I had started the ribbon, just to cover up the seam. Also, I placed the flowers together, but you can also scatter them, or put more on and make it super flowery. I told you, this craft calls for originality, thats why its so genius and easy!
And finally... Hang it on your door for the world to see! I was thinking that once December rolls around, I'll move this wreath indoors and hang it on my wall as a lovely Winter decoration. By that time I'll already have my holiday wreath hanging outside, nothing goes to waste!
and WALA! Magic! a simple wreath but oh so elegant! Everyone say Hi to my reflection in the window :)
