DIY Ornament Wreath

Red and Gold DIY wreath

So this year I decided to make my own Christmas wreath. Last year I spent about $20 dollars at Wal-Mart for one that wasn't even that pretty anyways. I know this type of wreath has been made many times and is all around Pinterest, (thats where I got my inspiration). I kind of thought it would be easy to make and it really was!
All I bought were the ornaments from The Dollar Tree, about $6 dollars, and the bow from target about $4 dollars. So all in all I spent $10 dollars for a really nice ornament. I've gotten so many compliments on it. So all I used was a wire hanger, some hot glue, a bow, and my ornaments to make the wreath. Super Easy!

OH Christmas Tree, OH Christmas Tree

This year we found our perfect tree at our local Home Depot. It was about 8 feet tall and smelled amazing. This tree will fulfill its Christmas Destiny. (FRIENDS reference) I love FRIENDS.

I LOVE our new camera. We took this picture with all the lights off. Only the christmas tree lights were on and it gave off this cool effect. I learned how to do it from a pinner on Pinterest. Change the settings on your camera to (f) aperture 3.0 or lower. Shutter speed 1/30 and ISO: 1600. It was easy getting her to pose in front of the tree. This is her first Christmas and we are capturing every experience possible on film.

She could play with these lights FOREVER. We didn't mind. We just clicked away. Beautiful.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Easy DIY Fall Wreath

EASY DIY Fall Wreath

I made this wreath in about 10 minutes the other day and it was the easiest thing I've ever made. I wanted to make a Fall wreath that wasn't too Christmassy since its still November. (I don't like to skip Holidays) I'm kind of iffy about this one only because I feel that it blends in too much with my door. I think this wreath would look great against a black or red door. Someone suggested adding red poinsettias to it which I think would look great, but I was trying to steer as far away from the whole Christmas theme as I can.

Below is a step-by-step on how to create this simple-yet elegant wreath :) Enjoy!

Step 1: Gather your materials. I used a circle foam thing I found at Michaels for 4.99, a pack of  flowers of any kind. If I was doing this for the Holidays, I would have chosen red ones, and ribbon. Since I made this with Thanksgiving in mind, I chose Autumn type colors. You really can chose any variation that you want...thats the awesome part!

Step 2: Start wrapping the ribbon and secure every so often with a glue gun. (I forgot to mention that as an item needed! Glue gun=Key! Wrap all the way around.
Step 3: Once finished it should look like a giant ring. To me it looks like the rings from the old video game Sonic The Hedge Hog. I'm I the only weirdo who sees that? Maybe so, but I grew up with brothers. I know video games, so what....

Step 4: Hot glue the flowers in any section. I glued them where I had started the ribbon, just to cover up the seam. Also, I placed the flowers together, but you can also scatter them, or put more on and make it super flowery. I told you, this craft calls for originality, thats why its so genius and easy!

And finally... Hang it on your door for the world to see! I was thinking that once December rolls around, I'll move this wreath indoors and hang it on my wall as a lovely Winter decoration. By that time I'll already have my holiday wreath hanging outside, nothing goes to waste!

and WALA! Magic! a simple wreath but oh so elegant! Everyone say Hi to my reflection in the window :)

Mini Christmas trees

Hey Dolls! So I wanted to share my latest DIY projects I've been working on for about a week now. Christmas time in the Valdivia residence is fast approaching and I wanted to be sure I'm ready this year. Every year the holidays come and go so quickly I barely have enough time to enjoy the lights and smell of my Christmas tree before I have to start taking them down.

Well this year I wanted to be prepared. I am currently on a DIY high and have been making EVERYTHING I can. I don't know about you dolls, but I get a huge satisfaction knowing I made something myself. Plus my boyfriend really likes it too. I find he appreciates the things I make and really is proud of them. Last weekend our friends were over and when they noticed the mini Christmas trees in the kitchen, he was quick to say, "Reyna made them!" :)

Any-who, I just finished my latest Mini Christmas tree. It's the golden pine cone one in the middle. Super easy to make, except my pine cones were a little too ripe and they were not easy to break off :/ Other than that, all it took was my empty cereal box, pine cones and some spray paint. OH lets not forget the almighty hot glue gun. I got the idea from several sources. These mini Christmas trees are popping out everywhere this season! Target, TJ MAXX, Ross, and everywhere on Pinterest! Some are really expensive, but these DIY ones are super easy, and fairly cheap.  I've been working on them every night when the little one goes down. Maybe I'll do a step-by-step how to...hmm thoughts?

A little about myself

Hey dolls!

I'm Reyna! I am 24 about to be 25 in December. New Years Eve to be exact! Yes I realize it is on a holiday and it must be so cool to celebrate with the rest of the world... except thats just it.. I hate having to celebrate something that is supposed to be special to me, with everyone in the world. The way I see it, its already a festive day, people are already going to celebrate. They are not celebrating because of me. I know, its a bit selfish, but I am allowed to be.. on my birthday at least :) Anyways, but I digress.

A little bit about myself:

I am a mother to a beautiful 8 month baby girl named Emma. I love her to DEATH! She is my world. I am with the baby daddy, but we are not yet married..(GASP!) I know right, why aren't we married? What are we waiting for? We have been together for 6 1/2 years. It will be 7 years on June 9. The truth is we are happy. We have our family all under one roof and things are going well. I do want to get married but I would like to have our dream house and another reliable car first. Okay, maybe I'll go into those topics later. (marriage, dating, relationships, etc.) I should just stick to the main points!

I graduated with my bachelors degree in Communication with an emphasis on PR in 2011 at Cal State University, Los Angeles. Currently I am seriously thinking about going back to school to get my Masters in Education. I am in the process of applying to a University close by. I love education and I have always known I want to get my Masters. Having Emma has just set me back a bit.

Emma was born on March 3, 2012 at 12:53 A.M. She is a blessing. I watch her grow everyday and she is a doll! I am a stay at home mom and I am thankful we are able to do that since I cannot imagine not being here to witness all these precious moments!:) Speaking of.. I hear her waking up from her afternoon nap, which means my intro stops here. Thats a little about me, be back later for a follow up.
